Integrating Energy into Coastal Infrastructure: Wave Swell Energy Featured in United States Department of Energy Report
3 March 2026
Wave Swell Energy Limited has featured in a United States Department of Energy (DOE) report prepared by the National Laboratory of the Rockies focussed on the economic and deployment benefits of Coastal Structure-Integrated Wave Energy Converters (CSI-WECs).
The report independently validates that integrating wave energy converters into ports, breakwaters, and coastal defence structures represents a low-risk, high-reward approach that delivers both renewable energy and enhanced coastal protection – providing a practical pathway for marine energy deployment.
Wave Swell Energy Limited was one of three wave energy developers selected to assess high-potential U.S. sites, including Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the Pribilof Islands and Humboldt Bay.
This recognition aligns with the success of the real-world deployment of Wave Swell Energy Limited’s unique and innovative wave energy converter in a multi-year project in the southern oceans in Australia that was independently assessed by the DOE through the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The report comes at a time when WSE is progressing CSI-WEC deployment opportunities in the United States, Taiwan, and Europe, further strengthening WSE’s project pipeline.
This recognition by a U.S. national laboratory further reflects WSE’s position as a globally credible and commercially ready CSI-WEC solution provider.
